We were recently made aware of a national initiative to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph. on roads that already had a limit of 30. Having been approached by a concerned parishioner, the Parish Council have applied for this limit to be introduced on most of the lanes in the area that are either too narrow for cars to pass without one reversing, or that go through population centres. We have been told that, although there was no previous speed limit on our lanes, the “powers that be” will consider our application. Most people already drive carefully, but not everyone does, so it seems like a reasonable idea
